In the second installment of the Intertidal Zone, we look deeper into something Dr. Bob Turner said in his initial interview. "The whales came back, and they're sort of forcing the conversation". This sentence acts as a catalyst for the history of whales in the Salish Sea, and current threats being made against them by the federal government. It also transports the author to her own experiences with whales, including an up-close encounter with an orca in New Zealand.
